An Unexpected Use for Wide-format Printers:

Making movies in Hollywood is usually not the first thing you envision when it comes to wide-format printers, but Russell Bobbit thinks otherwise. He is the Property Manager for Marvel's latest Captain America, The Winter Soldier. See how he has incorporated the printer into his creative process. Here's how:

  • Before manufacturing expensive props, the creative team reviews true-to-life, graphical representations before making the decision to move forward with the creation of the prop
  • The large graphic printers can also be utilized by others in the art department for life size posters and banners

  • Printer used: Canon iPF 8400 - 44 inch, 12 color
  • Besides printing conceptual ideas for props, the studio also used the printer to produce on-camera posters
  • The Canon printer is versatile enough to use across different departments
